ULTIMATE INTERCEPTOR · Technical overview

64-Channel Passive GSM System

ULTIMATE INTERCEPTOR is a laptop-controlled GSM reception platform with a 64-channel receiver. Portable and rack-mounted versions differ in size and weight. The base system is designed for GSM; the optional C-SCAN analyzer adds a separate 2G, 3G and 4G network-survey function.

  • GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands.
  • 64-channel receiver configuration.
  • Separate uplink and downlink antennas.
  • 220 V AC, 50 Hz or 12 V DC supply.
  • Portable and rack-mounted hardware formats.

Model: ULTIMATE INTERCEPTOR

Government and law enforcement equipment

This overview covers the system architecture, hardware and supplied equipment.

System architecture

GSM receiver

The main receiver supports four GSM frequency bands. Its 64-channel configuration is distinct from the cellular standards supported by the optional analyzer.

Laptop control station

A supplied notebook provides the software interface and data-management environment. The receiver and its antennas form the radio portion of the system.

Two hardware formats

Portable and rack-mounted versions use different enclosures. The dimensions and weights below are listed separately for each version.

How passive reception works

Receiving an existing radio signal

A passive receiver listens to radio signals already present in its supported frequency bands. The receiving function does not establish a replacement cellular base station or instruct a phone to connect to it.

“Passive” describes the radio-reception method. It does not, by itself, establish what information can be recovered from a signal or guarantee that an entire installation is undetectable.

Uplink and downlink

Uplink is the radio path from a handset to a base station. Downlink is the path from a base station to a handset. The two paths have different signal characteristics and reception conditions. The supplied hardware includes separate antennas for these paths.

Channels and cellular standards

The 64-channel figure describes receiver capacity within the specified GSM configuration. It is not a count of mobile operators or a statement of support for additional cellular generations.

The main system’s listed bands are GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. UMTS, LTE and 5G reception capabilities should not be inferred from this GSM specification.

Why C-SCAN is separate

C-SCAN is an optional network analyzer with its own scanner hardware and software license. It surveys 2G, 3G and 4G networks and presents network information on a map. Adding it does not convert the base GSM receiver into a 3G or 4G interception system.

  • Scanner software license.

A separate C-SCAN laptop is not listed in this offer’s add-on package.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a GSM, UMTS or LTE system?

The main receiver is a GSM/2G system. The separate optional C-SCAN analyzer surveys 2G, 3G and 4G networks.

What does the 64-channel specification mean?

It describes the receiver configuration within the supported GSM bands. It does not mean 64 mobile operators or support for additional cellular standards.

Does passive reception mean the equipment acts as a base station?

No. Passive reception listens to existing radio signals. It is distinct from an active system that establishes a replacement base station.

Are the portable and rack-mounted versions the same size?

No. The portable version is 480 × 175 × 430 mm and weighs 19 kg. The rack-mounted version is 730 × 720 × 500 mm and weighs 30 kg.

Can it connect directly to a US wall outlet?

The listed AC input is 220 V, 50 Hz. Direct compatibility with US 120 V, 60 Hz mains is not specified and must be verified for the supplied power equipment.

Does C-SCAN expand the GSM receiver to 3G and 4G?

No. It adds a separate network-survey function; it does not change the specified cellular standard of the main receiver.

Technical documentation

Configuration record

The supplied equipment list should identify the enclosure version, receiver configuration and any separate analyzer package.

Power requirements

Confirm the electrical ratings of the supplied power components, especially for installations using a mains supply other than 220 V, 50 Hz.

System identification

Keep the receiver model, hardware version and software license details with the equipment record for maintenance and technical support.
