Full description
Voice modification for traditional phones
CVT-M offered eight settings for changing the sound of a caller’s voice on a traditional landline telephone. Its small housing and battery power made it suitable for use at different compatible phone stations.
The original package included a cable for connecting the device to the telephone. CVT-M belonged to an earlier generation of landline equipment; it was not a mobile phone voice changer.
Original applications
The device was intended for personal calls and telephone workstations where an operator needed to modify their speaking voice. Its role was to alter the voice during a conversation, including at compatible call center stations.
Power and physical specifications
CVT-M ran on two AA batteries and did not need an external adapter for battery operation. The housing measured 12 × 7 × 1 cm, approximately 4.72 × 2.76 × 0.39 inches, and weighed 145 g (5.1 oz).
The original documentation also listed an optional 6 V DC adapter. That archived specification does not indicate that the accessory is still available.
Choosing a current alternative
CVT-M is no longer sold. This page retains its images and specifications for product identification and reference.
CVX-II connects to an analog telephone line or a PC with separate microphone and audio output connections. CVX-PLUS connects between a compatible desk phone’s base and its corded handset. These are different installation options, so the appropriate replacement depends on the phone setup.
