Directional audio capture with adjustable gain
Supercardioid condenser capsule
Directional pickup emphasizes sound from the area toward which the microphone is aimed.
Gain up to +66 dB
The dedicated preamp provides adjustment from +6 to +66 dB to set the level for the recording setup.
100 Hz high-pass filter
An 11 dB-per-octave roll-off attenuates low-frequency components that can interfere with speech pickup.
Full description
Supercardioid pickup for remote listening
KMR-359 combines a condenser capsule with a supercardioid polar pattern to capture speech and other sounds from a selected direction. It supports discreet conversation monitoring and location recording where the operator works at a distance from the sound source.
The microphone measures 343 × 22.5 mm, making it practical to reposition during field use. Accurate aiming helps isolate the source of interest; usable listening distance depends on source level, surrounding noise and microphone placement.
Frequency response and dynamic range
A 40 Hz–20 kHz frequency response, specified within ±2.5 dB, covers speech and environmental sound. The microphone has a stated dynamic range of 122 dB and an output impedance of 200 Ω.
These characteristics support a range of recording tasks, from dialogue and live events to wildlife observation. Select the pickup position with both the intended source and nearby competing sounds in mind.
Dedicated preamp and low-frequency filtering
The included preamp offers adjustable gain from +6 to +66 dB. This allows the operator to match amplification to the available signal and the connected recording equipment.
The high-pass filter rolls off low frequencies at 100 Hz with an attenuation slope of 11 dB per octave. It can reduce low-frequency interference during speech pickup; it does not remove every type of background noise.
Battery operation and recording options
AAA battery power supports use away from a fixed power source, with a battery and cable included. Estimated runtime exceeds 150 hours under ideal conditions. Actual runtime varies with use and battery condition.
For recording, consider the DIGICELL recorder or other compact audio recorders. Our team can review the input levels and connections required for the selected setup.

Applications
Discreet conversation monitoring
Capture speech from a separate listening position. Supercardioid pickup and adjustable gain help the operator aim and set the level for the available audio signal.
Film, theater and live events
Record dialogue and event sound from a chosen direction. The high-pass filter reduces low-frequency components that can interfere with the recording.
Wildlife observation
Monitor animal calls and environmental sounds without approaching the source. The compact body and battery supply support portable field use.
